Tool palettes

The main image editing tools are housed in the tool palettes (see the preceding figure) on the left side of the screen:

* **Direct Selection:** With this tool, you draw on the image with a box around the area you want to select. (For more information on direct selection, see the section "Selecting with the Direct Selection Tool," earlier in this chapter.)
* **Lasso Selection:** This tool is used to create a selection (a boundary) around a portion of the image that you can then manipulate. (For more on the Lasso tool, see the section "Selecting with the Lasso Tool," earlier in this chapter.)
* **Magic Wand:** This tool is used to select a contiguous group of pixels that you can then work with. (For more on this tool, see the section "Selecting with the Magic Wand," earlier in this chapter.)
* **Pen:** For creating and editing a selection, you can use the Pen tool; for working on the _inside_ of a selection, you use the Pencil tool. (For more on this tool, see the section "Making a Selection with the Pen or Pencil Tool," earlier in this chapter.)

You can use it to edit and create digital photos, design websites, create gifs and more. It’s made by the same company that makes traditional Photoshop, so you’ll know that it will run as smoothly as Photoshop.

What makes Photoshop Elements different

When you launch Photoshop Elements, you will see a simple, stylish interface.

It works similar to any other image editing software. You can adjust the contrast of a photo, change the color balance, add text or change the brightness and clarity.

Photoshop Elements does not include all features of Photoshop, but it has most of the features you need to edit digital images.



The first time you open a new project, Photoshop Elements will give you a welcome screen. This has two buttons.

The first one lets you select an option for a new project. The second lets you import photos from your computer or from other applications.

After opening Photoshop Elements, you will be able to create new projects. You can also choose a template or download one of the many template options available.

You can also import your photos directly into Photoshop Elements from your camera memory card.

Photoshop Elements can open almost any type of image. It will open RAW files, jpeg, tif, tiff, psd, mp4, flv, webm and more.

The software will also accept images that you have converted to black and white or sepia.

There are many useful features in Photoshop Elements. For example, it offers a Black and White conversion option.

In addition, it has several filters to adjust the colors in your photos or turn them into GIFs.

You can save your projects as JPEG, PNG, gif, TIF and PDF files.

Also, Photoshop Elements allows you to create layers and merge them. This makes it easier to edit your image.

Other features include cropping, resizing, extracting objects and much more.



How to open an image

You will open an image in Photoshop Elements using the same steps you would when using a traditional image editing program.

Launch Photoshop Elements and click on the image.

When you open an image, it will open in Photoshop Elements.

Navigating through the toolbox

To start editing an image, you’ll need to add tools to your toolbox. You will do that by dragging tools from the toolbox to the workspace

How to assign Facebook App Access Token to identity

I'm trying to get ahold of the Facebook Access Token an identity, but only get a invalid token back. I'm not sure if this is the proper way to approach the problem.

Settings.AccessToken is the string of the Facebook Access Token for a certain user.
Is it the correct way to get the facebookUserId?

A:

Facebook has a nice example demonstrating how to get an ID for a Facebook user using OAuth.
Basically, you request an access token and exchange it for an id, like so:

var fb = new FacebookClient(code);
var result = await fb.GetAsync(new Uri(""));
var id = result.ToString();

Once you have the ID of a Facebook user, you can do any number of things with that. Here are some:

You can identify them in your app as a different user than the person signed into the app using that token.
You can use their ID to get information about them (first name, last name, sex, etc.)
You can get their profile information

PHOENIX — Mayor of Phoenix Greg Stanton’s approval rating continues to decline, hitting a new low this month with just 6% of residents approving of his job performance, according to a new Phoenix Mercury poll.

The poll released Monday showed 62% of voters disapprove of the job he’s doing as mayor, compared to just 32% who approve.

Stanton, who has served in the post since 2013, also saw his favorability rating drop from a previous low of 43% to 35% — the first time his approval rating has ever gone below 40% in a Mercury poll.

“It’s interesting that he’s seen a poll that was conducted almost exactly two years ago and saw a similar result,” said Ryan Enos, CEO of the Mercury.

North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has given permission to 2.2 million people to celebrate the country's newest landmark.



The celebrations are to be held across the entire country on Sunday.

They involve a music festival dubbed "The Day of the Sun", as well as a parade that will be broadcast live on state television.

The holiday celebrates the 105th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the state, Kim Il Sung, and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the ruling party.

The festivities in Pyongyang are to be the culmination of the celebrations.

During the parade, four models - each representing the three revolutionary principles of the party and the nation - will be carried in a 700-metre march through the streets, accompanied by children's songs and dances.

There will also be mass performances of the "Alone We Cannot Fight" revolutionary songs, which were first sung in a mass performance in 1945.

The performers will sing the songs as they dance across the square, accompanied by live music played on a huge stage behind them.

The images of the parade will be broadcast on state television, as will a film about the performance in Pyongyang on Sunday.

North Korea's film-makers often produce lavish footage to show off the country at international events.

Other countries have restricted access to the footage, however, and those at home will be kept largely in the dark.

Sunday's celebration may be the biggest - with an estimated 2.2 million participants from the whole country - since the 1994 death of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Un's grandfather.

Western diplomats have said there is evidence that the mass games in Pyongyang on July 9 will be larger than the performances scheduled for the 65th anniversary of the Korean Worker's Party in April.

The foreign ministry in Beijing said that the event was being watched with interest "to see what kind of show and what the message is".

North Korea has said that the games will be a different type of celebration to the "mass games" held on May 9 at the May Day Stadium, a venue built for the PyeongChang Olympics.

The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that "all citizens of the DPRK are urged to do their utmost to take part in the grand performance through their votes and prayers for the well-being of the leader, Supreme Commander of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea".
