Tip

A _layer_ is a set of pixels that overlaps another layer. When you move a layer, its underlying pixels move as well. When you move or copy an object, it creates a copy of the underlying pixels that exist outside the object. When you move or copy an object, each of the underlying pixels in the layer is _cloned_. In other words, it duplicates the pixels of the original.

In Photoshop, if you check the box marked "Animate the Transformations" at the bottom of the Layers panel, you see the Properties panel change as you drag a selection box around an object. As you change the properties, you see the rectangle transform so you know what the result will look like. If you press Ctrl+1 (for a normal, single-frame animation), or Ctrl+Shift+1 to repeat the process in a single-frame animation, you see the rectangle animate.

So, yes, you can call Photoshop a raster program and a layer-based program. They have more in common than the names imply, but Photoshop's capabilities also have something to do with the media you use and the way the software works.

Download and unzip the tutorial’s zip folder. Open Adobe Photoshop Elements and press the “Get started” icon in the Photoshop Elements menu.

To create a Photoshop theme, follow these steps:

Go to “New” and create a new Photoshop document.

After the document has been created, choose “Artboard” from the “Layers” panel.

Go to “Artboard” and choose “Artists”.

In the “Artists” panel, choose “Photoshop Color Management” from the side menu.

From the “Photoshop Color Management” panel, choose “Create New Theme”.

In “Create New Theme”, press “Create”.

You have just created a basic Photoshop theme. In the next video, we will customize this Photoshop theme to create a colorful and awesome wallpaper for your computer!
