AutoCAD is priced according to the number of users in your company. The monthly licensing fee is based on the number of computers in your company that are connected to the network; a base subscription fee of $399 is required for each computer. Additional users are $1,000 per month. A "stand-alone" license, which does not have to be shared with other users, is priced at $2,000 per month. AutoCAD subscribers also receive a software product called AutoCAD Web Connect, which provides access to AutoCAD, a software product called AutoCAD LT, which allows for the editing of DWG files, and an online support community called Help Central.



In the early years, a manual was provided with every copy of AutoCAD, to teach users the rudiments of designing. AutoCAD's user interface was not particularly intuitive, and early versions contained many bugs that made the software difficult to use. Today, AutoCAD is considered a mature product, but a majority of new features were introduced with AutoCAD 2015, released in July 2015, and includes over 2,100 new features and enhancements. According to one recent magazine survey, AutoCAD is currently the most popular CAD tool in the industry.

How Do I Select an AutoCAD License?

This article does not apply to AutoCAD LT.

The ability to create, modify, and manipulate 2D and 3D shapes on a computer is essential for the success of any CAD (computer-aided design) software. Before the development of AutoCAD, each user of CAD software was responsible for generating an individual drawing. The number of computers connected to a CAD network then multiplied the number of users.

The current version of AutoCAD is available for a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Macintosh, and most of the main UNIX platforms. AutoCAD requires an operating system capable of running a graphical user interface (GUI) with a mouse.

To determine which version of AutoCAD you require, you can examine the version displayed in the System Requirements box on the screen (see the image below).

Depending on the version of AutoCAD you select, there are differences in the price and features available.

Chemical-ablation mass spectrometry (“CAMS”) is a technique in which the molecules of interest are ionized by low-energy particles such as, for example, photons, electrons, or protons. FIG. 1A illustrates a prior art CAMS apparatus 100. The apparatus includes an ionizer 110 that produces a stream of ions 120, a conveyor 130 to move the ions from the ionizer 110 to a mass spectrometer 140, and an analysis chamber 160 for receiving the stream of ions 120. A mass analyzer 140 measures the mass of the ions to identify which of the ions are chemical compounds of interest.
FIG. 1B illustrates a prior art mass spectrometer 140 with a quadrupole mass analyzer 150. The mass spectrometer 140 comprises a linear quadrupole mass filter 150 that selects ions for entrance into the mass analyzer 150 based on their mass-to-charge ratio. Once the ions are selected, the mass analyzer 150 deflects the ions to one or more detector systems 160 that determine the identity of the ions.
The ionizer 110 may comprise a heated filament or an electron emitter. An example of an electron emitter is a photocathode that emits electrons when struck by incident photons. The electrons impinge on a target material that generates a plasma, and the plasma forms the ion stream 120. The mass spectrometer 140 may comprise a quadrupole mass filter 150 or a quadrupole ion trap.
FIG. 2 illustrates an example of a prior art apparatus 200 that may be used in the CAMS technique. As shown in FIG. 2, the mass spectrometer 140 receives ions generated by an ion source 210 and measures their mass. The ions enter the mass analyzer 150 by passing through a first aperture 230 and an electromagnetic lens 240. The mass analyzer 150 deflects the ions according to their mass. The resulting ion trajectory may be referred to as a “flight path” or “flight path length.”
