WARM-UP VIDEO FOR EUPHEMISMS AND INFORMAL EXPRESSIONS

Instructions. Learn the euphemisms and informal expressions the British use to talk about going to the toilet. Fill the gaps with these expressions: flush toilet, go to the loo, need to use the loo, need to visit the toilet, number two, when nature calls.

------------------------------------

Exercise. Complete each gap with suitable words and expressions you hear from the video.

This is what most of us use (1) ………….. here on earth- The humble, hand-(2) ………….. . But have you ever thought about what happens when you (3) ………….. in space? Thankfully British astronaut Tim Peake has come to the rescue to explain. A few days ago he showed us how to brew a cup of coffee up there, so we knew he would (4) ………….. sooner or later… And of course, the answer to the big question everybody asks, how do you (5) ………….. in space. It really is quite simple. Here's the tube in here. Take the cap off, turn on the fan, the fan keeps everything going straight down the pipe. For (6) ………….. , the air flow does the same thing. Simple as that. It gives a whole new meaning to the term floater. I bet he feels much lighter now!

Key: Look at the key and say aloud the script from the video to improve your English.
